Ben’s career in learning
As CEO of Learning Pool, Ben led the company through a secondary PE buyout in 2021, subsequently doubling the scale of the business within 3 years with a series of M&A transactions in the US and European markets, integrating multiple products into a unified strategy.
Committed to doing business right, Ben led Learning Pool through B-Corporation certification and created a ‘Great Place to Work’ globally.
Before Learning Pool, Ben built HT2 Labs from humble beginnings into a globally recognised innovator in workplace digital learning. HT2 Labs were the first to really grasp how social learning could be applied in the workplace. And HT2 Labs were the first to release an enterprise-ready Open Source Learning Record Store. Learning Pool completed an acquisition of HT2 Labs in June 2019.

Ben’s writing and research
Ben’s expertise and passion for better learning is based in research, having previously completed his EngD (Doctor of Engineering) researching the impact of gamification on adult social learning, alongside an MBA (Master of Business Administration). He has authored and contributed chapters for many books, published peer-reviewed academic papers and presented at conferences around the world, including TEDx. Ben used these skills to contribute to UPenn’s world-renowned Chief Learning Officer program, teaching on the technology block and previously serving on the board of the UK Learning Network.
Ben Betts lives in Buckinghamshire, just outside of London, in the UK. He has an old house that was worthy of an article in the Wall Street Journal, a young family and many ducks. Some of which are of the running variety. Hence the name and the logo.
